concrete forms a shell rated in excess of 4000-psi. When sheltered
with earth, the home benefits from the constancy of the earth's
temperature, greatly reducing heating and cooling expense.
Additionally, the strength of the shell and the shelter provided by

since 1979, meet all Uniform Building Codes. All the materials,

Twenty-six years of
research and hands-on experience have gone into the design of a
building system suitable for almost any site, in any climate,
anywhere in the world. Our research and design is continuous. Our
Professional Engineer carries a BS in Civil Engineering and an MS in
Civil/Structural Engineering from Brigham Young University. He is a
member of the American Institute of Steel Construction and a member
of the American Concrete Institute's Committee 334 "Thin Shell
Structures". We engineer projects for all states.
We produce bolt-together structural forming
systems to build the most advanced and versatile thin-shelled
monolithic hemispherical concrete domes, arches, and barrels for
earth sheltered structures. Uses range from homes to numerousother
applications. Such as this non-earth sheltered chapel in
Texas.
Our system makes construction easy. There are
no expensive forms to purchase, transport, maintain, set up or take
down. Our basic designs can easily be modified to your requirements.
We're always available to answer your questions throughout the
planning and building process. On-site inspection of the kit
assembly by PBSI personnel is included in the kit price --
regardless of the site within the continental United
States.
Performance Building Systems, Inc. (formerly
Earth Systems, Inc.) is owned and operated by Gene Pearcey, one of
the inventors of the patented structural system. The first Earth
Systems home was built in Phoenix, Arizona in 1979. In 1992, Earth
Systems changed its marketing approach and Performance Building
Systems, Inc. was formed to market the structural system.
